Description

$25 General Admission

Bloomington’s first annual Great Grown Up Spelling Bee will be held Friday,  September 3rd at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater.  Round up your smartest colleagues, or at least those who can spell, and showoff your spelling skills while supporting public education.  Or, if spelling is not your thing, come  cheer for your favorite team and witness a uniquely fun Bloomington event.

Don’t worry about being singled out; this is a team competition!  Each team, sponsored by local businesses, civic groups, or individuals, consists of three members.  Participants dress in fun themed PG rated costumes and have a great deal of fun while raising money for education.  Spellers will compete for the championship trophy and the 2010 Bloomington Spelling Title.  Celebrity judges, announcers and time keepers will add to the fun!

Sign up and start studying today.  The Bee will follow the official spelling bee rules, an added air of frivolity will keep it light and entertaining.  Although the event is designed to be fun we do expect a strong competitive culture to emerge from this first event.

The deadline for submitting a team is Friday, August 20th .

The event is produced by the Foundation of Monroe County Community Schools and all proceeds will be used to support Bloomington New Technology High School.

Come enjoy some “lunacy at lunchtime”.   We guarantee you will have a great time while supporting a great cause.
