The Combine, a national technology and entrepreneurship conference, will be held September 9–12, 2010 in Bloomington, Indiana, a hot-spot for innovation and entrepreneurialism, and home of Indiana University’s flagship campus. This dynamic event will bring together movers and shakers in from the world of technology entrepreneurship and offer them the perfect venue for learning, conversations, connections and fun.
In the spirit of similar conferences like South By Southwest (SXSW) and Big Omaha, the Combine is a conference about the people, ideas and environments that drive technology. Organized by Humanetrix, a Bloomington-based company that seeks to create communities and interconnectedness through technology and information resources, this event features an impressive roster of highly successful entrepreneurs, business and technology experts, as well as content creators.
Speakers include a diverse group of celebrity personalities such as Michael Ian Black and Michael Showalter (Wit Stream/Comedy Central), and more than 20 passionate industry pioneers, such as Christian Lander (Stuff White People Like), Ben Huh (I Can Has Cheezburger), Neil Patel (KISSmetrics), Micah Baldwin (Graphic.ly) and Chris Wanstrath (GitHub).
The Combine will be anything but a typical tech conference. The venue is the entire town of Bloomington, Indiana, and all that this unique college town has to offer.
Day one of The Combine will give attendees the opportunity to explore Bloomington’s unique downtown. Highlights include a gallery walk along the scenic B-line bike and hiking path; an Open Pitch Session at SproutBox to discuss entrepreneurial tech ideas; and TechCocktail Bloomington, a networking event at the new Henke Hall of Champions inside the Indiana University Memorial Stadium.
The main event — the lineup of speakers — will be held on day two at the historic Buskirk-Chumley Theater. After lunch at Bloomington's wide array of downtown restaurants, attendees will come together for Ignite Bloomington 3, a high-energy evening of five-minute talks at the Indiana Memorial Union.
The weekend wraps up on day three, with a Saturday morning Tweetup at the Bloomington Farmers’ Market. The Tweetup will be followed by a Dev Derby: a 36-hour race that ends on Sunday, where teams will compete to develop the most useful technology tools for non-profit organizations.
Tickets for The Combine 2010 will be available July 1. Full participation costs just $249, with special pricing for students. To find out more, visit thecombine.org, or find them on Facebook. Also follow us on Twitter by adding @thecombine.org.
