Volunteer at the BCT

Would you like to get behind the scenes at Bloomington’s Community Theater? Are you ready to help make music, dance, theater, and more possible at the BCT? We’ve got the opportunity for you! Volunteering at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater will connect you to the hub of cultural life in downtown Bloomington and allow you to explore new artists and performance styles.

Our volunteer ushers create a welcoming, enjoyable environment at the theater. We are always looking for enthusiastic, outgoing, customer service oriented individuals to scan tickets, seat patrons, and perform a variety of other tasks that help our events go smoothly. BECOME A VOLUNTEER USHER

In addition to meeting great people and seeing dynamic shows, if you usher twice in a month, you can receive one complimentary ticket to the show of your choice (pending availability). If you usher 36+ per year and attend an additional annual training, you’ll be added to the VIP usher list the following year. VIP ushers receive a permanent BCT name tag and the opportunity to sign up early for popular shows. We also host appreciation events at the theater to show our gratitude to all of our incredible volunteers!

GETTING STARTED

Ushers must be at least 16 years of age and are asked to attend a short orientation before signing up for their first shift. Ushers under 18 additionally must have a parent or guardian sign a  Volunteer Parental Consent Form before being eligible to volunteer.
