Description:

Celebrate the Season with the Bloomington Symphony Orchestra at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater. We’ll have two festive and family-friendly shows perfectly framing downtown’s Canopy of Lights.

First a slightly shorter concert at 5pm (finishing just in time to catch the Canopy of Lights), followed by an expanded 8pm show as a great way to warm up after the lights have been lit. Start your season off with some SPARKLE!

Doors open 30 minutes before each performance for this reserved seating event. Wearing a mask indoors is greatly appreciated.

As part of this week’s Jazzin’; B-town special presentations, the Bloomington Symphony Orchestra and the IU Archives of African American Music and Culture (AAAMC) present Spiritual Collage: A Suite for Saxophone Quartet and Orchestra, by jazz pianist Mickey Tucker. Come hear as the BSO plays alongside acclaimed jazz artists Greg Osby, Cyrus Chestnut, Gary Bartz, Curtis Lundy, Ronnie Burrage, Carol Sudhalter and Rob Dixon. The BSO 2022 Youth Concerto Competition winner, Elson Koh, will also be showcased performing Jean Sibelius’s Violin Concerto in D Minor, Op. 47.

He’s back! Our founder Geoffrey Simon planned to come help us celebrate our 50th season in March
2020, but we all know how that ended up. Fortunately, he will join us this March instead for a concert
featuring pianist Ignas Maknickas. Come be a part of history as the man who started it all returns to
conduct the orchestra he founded in 1969!
