Support from the community is essential to making the full vision of the Buskirk-Chumley Theater a reality. Ongoing financial support, along with bequests from supporters’ estates, provide local artists with access to a professional venue, brings nationally-known performers to south-central Indiana, and provides a place for community members to gather for education, entertainment, and inspiration. Community support also allows the BCT Box Office to operate without charging convenience fees to our patrons.

The 55-65 presenting organizations and artists who utilize the Buskirk-Chumley Theater each year:

  • give children early theater- and concert-going experiences;
  • support the creativity of artists at all levels of accomplishment;
  • raise funds for social services and other valuable community resources;
  • encourage community members to gather to discuss important issues;
  • provide students with their first community-based performance opportunity; and
  • keep Bloomington’s downtown alight and lively.

As a resource, educator, supporter, and producer, as well as a sustainable business, the theater provides a stage for Bloomington’s communal voice. Your financial support will strengthen that voice. For those interested in more details, the theater’s mission, programs, and successes can be found on our website, and a Gift Acceptance Policy is available upon request.

Save Your Seat
More than half of the armrests in the theater are already engraved with names of BCT supporters. Your name can be among them when you make a gift of $500 or more. You can also engrave an armrest in honor of someone else; they make wonderful wedding, anniversary, and birthday gifts.

Make a Gift Through Your Estate Plan
You can help to ensure that the BCT’s programming and services continue far into the future by including us in your estate plan. The two easiest options are listed here, but many more options are available. Consult your legal or financial adviser for more information.

Bequests: Giving to the BCT through your will or trust is one of the simplest ways to make an estate-plan gift. When making a bequest, you might want to use this sample language: I hereby leave [percentage of estate/dollar amount/residue of estate/percentage of residue] of my estate to BCT Management, Inc., a nonprofit corporation in Bloomington, Indiana (EIN: 35-2146138), to be used for the benefit of the organization in such manner as the Board of Directors may elect.

Retirement Beneficiary: Because retirement plan assets are subject to heavy taxation, they are popular for charitable giving. If your IRA, TIAA-CREF, 401k, or other qualified plan passes through your estate, your heirs must pay income tax as they receive distributions. As a tax-exempt organization, BCT Management, Inc. will benefit from 100% of your retirement asset donation. Consider leaving a percentage – from 1% to 100% – of your retirement assets to BCT Management, Inc. or naming BCT Management, Inc. as an alternative or contingent beneficiary on your plan.
